Green Fox Community Energy

Green Fox Community Energy (Green Fox) is Leicester and Leicestershire’s very own community energy non profit organisation. Established by local people, we aim to facilitate the increase of community owned renewable and low carbon technology in Leicester and Leicestershire.

Green Fox are constantly developing new projects and opportunities within the community energy sector and would love to hear from you if you would like to explore a potential project, or are just interested in community energy.

Project Updates

Leicestershire Solar Schools

We’re partnering with Leicestershire County Council and Let’s Go Zero to offer schools free community-funded solar panels and guidance on climate action planning. Green Fox will install, maintain, and operate solar panels on your school’s roof—helping you significantly cut electricity costs and reduce your carbon footprint.

Community Energy Share Offer

Target: £60,000 | Closing Date: 31st March 2025 | Targeted interest rate: 5%

Green Fox is seeking to raise up to £60,000 to purchase an 80kWp solar array at Hollycroft Primary School – the first Net Zero primary school in Leicestershire and part of the OWLS Academy Trust

GreenerFuture project

Whether you are an individual or a group, we have an exciting opportunity to join a growing movement of people taking action in their own communities to generate and save energy to become more resilient. We are offering a free mentoring programme and community energy support network, supported by Community Energy Pathways and Leicestershire County Council. This is a real opportunity to play a part in the future of energy in Leicestershire.

Leicestershire’s first electric car club

Our latest project is the creation of an electric car club at Tilton on the Hill which is open to everyone in the parish and provides affordable, easy to use, emission free transport, with fast charging points. It has been supported by Harborough District Council, Tilton Village Hall and developed in partnership with local people.

The initiative has been funded by the Motability Foundation and offers a ‘need a lift scheme’ for residents that are less mobile. It is part of a national pilot to help develop a blueprint for rolling out electric car clubs across the country.
